Button Savior Root V2.1.2 is released

Follow me

Sorry for not making update recently as I have been a little bit of out of fresh idea to throw in. Also, I was recently learning how to do iOS programming. So was quite busy with the new thing. After such a long time, I have accumulated some really good feedback from many users to work on. So the first thing for beginning of this month is long awaited screenshot button support. However, this function only works on Honeycomb and newer. Next, I will add combo key supports so that any one can build whatever combo action they want to perform. Forgot to mention, screenshot function is added in pop control. So please don’t forget to access  this new feature from there.

Button Savior Root V2.1 is released

Follow me

I went through a series of unfortunate things during first half of 2014. So my development progress was seriously impacted. Things finally went back to normal track two month ago. So slowly, I added new things and fixed old bugs whenever I have time. Now here comes V2.1. In V2.1, the major add ons are inclusion of immersive mode and full screen mode. If you are running Kitkat, you can benefit from these new features to get rid of navigation bar and statusbar to enlarge your usable screen area. I also added an Youtube video to briefly demonstrate how to use these new features. Specifically, new changes in this version are:

(1) Immersive mode in pop control (Available to Kitkat device only)
(2) Full screen mode toggle in pop control (Available to Kitkat device only)
(3) Fixed USB debug dialog problem
(4) Trigger icon placement in full screen app is now fixed in Kitkat device
(5) Fixed some crash issues

[Please be aware that in immersive/full screen mode, you won’t be able to use on screen keyboard. In addition, some games might not run at all. However, you can bring up pop control panel and turn off immersive/full screen mode at any time to resume to normal screen behaviour.

Button Savior Root V2.0.2 is released

Follow me

Since my introduction of V2.0.0, I constantly get one star rating almost everyday. And almost 95% of them doesn’t bother to leave a comment to let me know why. So I have to guess. Initially, I thought it could be due to non root user who didn’t realize its Root app and were hugely disappointed after installation. So I added a note and better root detection to nicely tell non root users that this app is not for them. But no work. I now think it might be caused by disappointed users who suffered from crash issue.  So in this service release, I patched at least 7 crash issues that happened since the release of 2.0.1 and plus removal of ADB enable requirement. I hope this time my guess will be correct and enjoy the new cleaner version now 🙂

Why Button Savior gets so much 1 star rating after V2?

I worked very hard for entire one month to come out Button Savior Version 2. I was hoping all the new features can make most of you happy. However, before V2 was published, my life time one star rating was just 231. Now just 2 weeks of time, it is already 262 as of the time I wrote this post. I get at least 1 star a day. However, only 1 user wrote a comment out of all 31 one star rating since V2 andI don’t know why people don’t even bother to tell me why they hate it. I am very disappointed by the result. I actually regret I spent my entire month day and night to come out this new major update version. I believe I would better off if I did nothing at all.

I thought it was caused by non root users who didn’t realize they should root their device to use it or simply don’t have idea about what root is. I also thought it might be caused  by users who were unable to use Button Savior after upgraded to new version due to superSU misconfiguration. So I added a much better root detection and warning message upon detection of non root privilege. However, 1 star rating doesn’t slow down at all. So root is not an issue actually.

So I really don’t know why. No one leaves comment. So I’d like to know from you what’s the problem in latest V2 upgrade? If you recently left a one star rating and read this post, please take your time to let me know why. Thank you.Screen Shot 2014-01-24 at 3.22.41 PM

Button Savior is updated to V2 finally

Follow me

on 1st Jan, 2013, I setup a goal to myself that I wanted to update Smart Taskbar and Button Savior to V2 during the year. I finally managed to finish both on Christmas eve. I started the update of Button Savior plan since Aug and incrementally added 1~2 new V2 features in each small release. So basically, V2.0.0a alone is not V2. Instead, V1.8 + V2.0.0a consists of entire V2 new features.

Originally, I wanted to add Pie control support as a major feature in V2. However, after 2 weeks of implementation and evaluation, I decided to drop it and changed the idea to popControl as what you see in V2.0.0a because I think the way pie control is triggered doesn’t fit so well in Button Savior . I believe most people will find popControl too limited with only 9 new spots to use. You should not worry about this because popControl in V2.0.0a is just a beginning. First, I need to finish everything off before the end of 2014 to  fulfil my 2013 wish, and second, by making some features limited at first I can have more new features to add in future version.

I was too busy to cook and to do food preparation during my christmas time. So I updated my blog a little bit late this time. New year is coming in few days. I wish every happy Button Savior users a great year to come and your wish come true.1

Smart Taskbar V2.2.5 is released

Follow me

In Smart Taskbar V1, there is a third trigger type called status bar trigger. I didn’t add this mode in V2 initially because I personally don’t use that mode at all and thought it was not useful for everyone else too. But I was wrong. I also removed some UI customization features in V2 too. So from now on, I will eventually bring all the missing features that were in V1 back.

To access the toggle of Status Bar trigger, just open up Smart Taskbar V2 main window and you should be able to find it in SystemTab (Trigger Mode). To make it clearer, just refer to the screenshot I attached.

Smart Taskbar V2 2.2.1 Release Note

Follow me

Since my first release of Smart Taskbar2, I have been criticized for the new design of, circular shape, quick launch spot. Recently, I got new rectangular graphics from my designer. So I finally have a chance to fix it. But it is optional for you. You can change it in look and feel in preference. Also, I discovered a crash issue when making backup on 2.3 or older devices and I have fixed it.
